This handmade clay fairy house was made with Sculpty air-dry clay. This was my 2nd attempt at clay as a medium. I had some trouble with the 2nd bag of clay as it cracked when it dried, but I was able to repair it with water and more clay from another package. I used acrylic paint for the color and sealed the whole thing with an acrylic spray paint sealer several times. Unfortunately, even with several layers of sealer, this fairy house deteriorated outside in the elements. The next time I create a clay house outdoors, I’ll use oven-dried clay.
This whole project took almost 14 hours to complete.
Materials I used:
• Various recycled items for base
• (1) solar powered LED light
• Hot glue gun and glue for assembly
• (2) Sculpty Air Dry Clay packages
• Playdough molds
• Acrylic Paint
• Paint brushes
• Acrylic Spray Sealer
